 As per announcement made in the Railway Budget 2013-14, It has been decided to revise Tatkal Charges as given below.
The Tatkal Charges have been fixed as a percentage of fare at the rate of 10f basic fare for second class and 30f basic fare for all other classes subject to minimum and maximum as given in the table below.

The above charges will be levied uniformly both in peak period & non-peak periods.
Tatkal tickets will be issued for actual distance of travel, instead of end-to-end, subject to the distance restriction applicable to the train. The same Tatkal berth/seat may be booked in multiple legs till preparation of charts. At the time of preparation of charts, unutilized portion may be released to the General RAC/Waiting list passengers.
Tatkal facility is also available in Executive Class of Shatabadi Express trains also, by earmarking 10f the accommodation available i.e. 5 seats per coach.
Tatkal booking opens at 10 AM for AC Classes and 11 AM for NON-AC Classes on One days in advance actual date of journey excluding date of journey w.e.f. of 15.06.2015(commercial circular no:34 of 2015). e.g. for train leaving on 6th, Tatkal Booking will Commence at 10 AM for AC Classes on 5th and at 11 AM for NON-AC Classes on 5th.
No duplicate Tatkal tickets shall be issued. Duplicate Tatkal tickets shall be issued only in exceptional cases on payment of full fare including Tatkal charges.
At the time of Tatkal ticket booking no need to furnish identity proof, Only one passenger needs to produce any one of the following proof of identity in the original during the journey:-

1.Voter Photo identity card issued by Election Commision of India.

2.Passport

3.PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department.

4.Driving Licence issued by RTO.

5.Photo identity card having serial number issued by Central/State Government.

6.Student Identity Card with photograph issued by recognized School/College for their students.

7.Nationalized Bank Passbok with photograph.

8.Credit cards issued by banks with laminated photograph.

9.Unique Identification Card "Aadhaar".

10.Photo identity cards having serial number issued by Public Sector Undertaking of State/Central Government, District Administration, Municipal bodies and Penchant Administration.

Agents / RTSAs/Web service agents/Web agents of IRCTC are restricted from the booking Tatkal tickets between 1000 hours and 1200 hours. This restriction shall be enforced through frequent inspection at the counters. The agents both web service agents and web agents shall also be restricted from booking Tatkal tickets on the internet between 1000 hours and 1200 hours.
Even for internet booking for Tatkal tickets, the passenger shall enter the identity proof type and number, which is to be used for travel. These details shall be printed on the ERS/indicated on the VRM/MRM as well as in the reservation chart.
It will be possible to book a maximum of only four passengers per PNR forTatkal tickets.
The web services agents of IRCTC will be permitted to book only one Tatkal ticket per train per day on the internet.
The facility of change of name is not permitted on the bookings made under Tatkal scheme
TDRs are not being issued for waiting list tickets.
REFUNDS - No refund will be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets/duplicate tatkal ticket except in case of circumstances mentioned in para 2 of instructions contained in Commercial Circular no. 53 of 2006 issued vide letter no. 2006/TGII/ 20/P/Tatkal, dated 30.06.2006. However, full refund of fare and tatkal charges will be granted on the tickets booked under Tatkal scheme in the following circumstances :-
If the train is delayed by more than 3 hours at the journey originating point of the passenger & not the boarding point if the passenger's journey originating point and boarding point are different.
If the train is to run on a diverted route and passenger is not willing to travel.
If the train is to run on diverted route and boarding station or the destination or both the stations are not on the diverted route.
In case of non attachment of coach in which Tatkal accommodation has been earmarked and the passenger has not been provided accommodation in the same class.
If the party has been accommodated in lower class and does not want to travel. In case the party travels in lower class, the passenger will be given refund of difference of fare and also the difference of Tatkal charges, if any.

 The Ministry of Railways have decided to increase the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking accomodation in trains from 60 days to 120 days (excluding the day of journey). Accordingly, w.e.f 1st April, 2015 the booking in trains from train originating stations will open and remain available for 120 days. For instance, as on 01.04.2015, for trains leaving on 28th July 2015, the reservation can be obtained for journey commencing on all days between 01.04.2015 upto 28.07.2015.

There will, however be no change in the case of certain day time Express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express, Special trains etc, where lower time limits for advance reservation are at present in force. There will also be no change in the case of the limit of 360 days provided for foreign tourists.

Counter Ticket Cancellation by us


An SMS will be sent with PNR and refund details. Sample format: “Your PNR xxxxxxxxxx has been cancelled. Collect refund amt xxxxx from journey commencing station or nearby satellite PRS locations. Ref. Terms & conditions”
Refund of cancelled PRS counter tickets through IRCTC website or 139 at present is permitted only at the journey commencing station or nearby satellite PRS locations by surrendering original journey ticket. Please check the convenience of collecting refund from journey commencing station before cancelling your ticket
During first two hours of the opening of PRS counters on the next day for the tickets for the trains whose scheduled departure as under:- time is (i) between 1801 hours and 0600 hours.
Upto 4 hours after the scheduled departure of the train during the working hours of PRS counters/current counters/special counters where cancellation is permitted round the clock on the tickets for the trains whose scheduled departure time is (i) between 0601 hours and 1800 hours.
Counter Ticket Cancellation Rules
This may be applicable only in case valid mobile number has been given at the time of booking.
Cancellation of tickets and refund of fare may be permitted for PRS counter tickets in normal circumstances only and not in case of late running of trains/cancellation of train etc.
Online cancellation shall be permitted only upto 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train if ticket is fully confirmed.
Online cancellation shall be permitted only upto 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train if ticket is RAC/Waitlist.

Passenger details (Viz.name, age, gender, booking status, current status) and journey details will be displayed on the website.
Once the passenger confirms full cancellation of PNR will be done and PNR will be marked as Cancelled but not refunded in the system. Seat/berth will be released. Refund amount due will also be displayed to the passenger on website
All the privilege/duty pass/PTOs/complimentary pass tickets may be allowed to be cancelled through website. In the case of pass zero refund is permissible however, for validity of the pass for fresh booking the passenger shall approach the counter to get the pass re-validated by marking the same cancelled against the earlier booked tickets as per prescribed rule.
PTO’s tickets are issued on 1/3rd of the total basic fares and normal cancellation charge is applicable in these tickets also. Therefore in many cases ticket value on PTOs is less than the cancellation charges therefore passengers may or may not cancel the tickets therefore cancellation across IRCTC website may be allowed in the case of PTOs also.
